Spiritual Gifts
1 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
3 His delight is in the fear of the LORD,
And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes,
Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;
4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor,
And decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,
And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
5 Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins,

1. Wisdom (Sapientia)
Wisdom is the capability to see life from God’s perspective. It is not merely intellectual talent or academic knowledge. Instead, it is a spiritual disposition that helps you value eternal, divine realities over temporary, worldly concerns, allowing you to align your choices with a grander divine plan.
2. Understanding (Intellectus)
While wisdom helps you prioritize, understanding empowers you to grasp the deeper meaning of faith. It goes beyond the surface-level reading of scripture or religious doctrine. This gift provides intuitive insight into divine truths, helping you see the underlying harmony in God's teachings and how they apply to your life.
3. Counsel (Consilium)
Also known as the gift of Right Judgment, counsel functions as a spiritual compass. It is an immediate, practical grace that helps you make moral decisions and discern God's will in complex everyday situations. It guides you on what to say or do when facing ethical crossroads or assisting others with advice.
4. Fortitude (Fortitudo)
Commonly translated as Might, Strength, or Courage, fortitude provides the supernatural endurance needed to live out your faith. It grants you inner strength to stand firm against trials, overcome spiritual lukewarmness, and face difficulties, persecution, or fear with steady determination.
5. Knowledge (Scientia)
The gift of knowledge is the ability to comprehend God's purpose and the true value of creation. Unlike human data accumulation, spiritual knowledge allows you to recognize the hand of God at work in the universe and in your own life history. It anchors your expectations in divine reality rather than superficial illusions.
6. Piety (Pietas)
Piety represents Reverence and Filial Affection toward God. Drawn from the Septuagint translation, this gift heals our hearts of coldness and fosters a deep awareness of God as a loving Father. It naturally drives a person to worship joyfully, practice authentic devotion, and treat others with the respect due to God’s creations.
7. Fear of the Lord (Timor Domini)
Often misunderstood as terror, this gift actually means Awe, Wonder, and Deep Reverence in the presence of the Almighty. It is the acute awareness of God’s majesty combined with a profound desire not to offend Him or separate oneself from His love. According to the book of Proverbs, it is the actual "beginning of wisdom.

The Dynamic: From Root to Fruit
The relationship between the two is cause-and-effect. When the Gifts from Isaiah are fully activated, they naturally manifest as the Fruits listed by Paul in Galatians.

- How Wisdom leads to Peace and Joy: When someone has the spiritual capacity to view worldly troubles from an eternal perspective (Gift),
- they gain an unshakeable, interior tranquility and delight (Fruits) that circumstances cannot destroy.
