Double Portion of Power
In this chapter, we are going to move into the place of a fuller understanding of the things which happen in a believer's life
after he becomes a new creation.
When we are saved, we can still do our own thing if we so desire. We have given our heart to the Lord but often do not have the
power to live a holy life before God. The Adamic nature is still working in our soul realm and our physical bodies. Soon we stop
trying to put to death 'the sin which so easily besets us'
(Heb. 12:1).
Repentance is just not that easy to work out in our lives. Yet,
that 'incorruptible seed' is still planted and germinating in our hearts. So, we fall on our knees and cry out, "Lord, I read your
Word. I go to church and Bible studies. I yearn to please you but I find myself continually falling into sin through the weakness
of my flesh. Lord, please help me to put all this sin behind me because I am so miserable and full of guilt. I am tired of struggling
with my conscience." Then, the Holy Spirit begins to woo us, opening our eyes and ears
(Acts 2:33,
8:18)
to something more which He has in store for us if we will totally believe the full gospel of the Bible. It is written in God's Word that there is another Baptism:
Mt. 3:11,
Lk. 3:16,
Acts 1:4-5,
and Hb. 6:2 (KJV says 'doctrine of baptisms').
When one accepts the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, he is saying, "God, I know I cannot do it myself but I can if you will live in and through me by your Spirit and your power each day. I give my whole body, soul, and spirit to you to do with as you will!"
Many, today think that they received all the Holy Spirit they needed at salvation because of
Romans 8:9.
If that were so then why did the Lord tell the disciples to wait for the promise of the Father
(Acts 1:4-5, 2:39)
after they had already received the Spirit of God? This happened at the time Jesus breathed on them
(Jn. 20:22),
before He ascended to heaven to live. The disciples
were under the law before Jesus was glorified
(Jn. 7:38-39);
therefore, they were not saved by Grace
(Eph. 2:8-9). Grace came the day the law was fulfilled in the propitiation of Christ, Jesus. After Jesus rose from the dead, then they received the Spirit of God or were saved. Soon after this, Jesus told them (in other words), "Now, do not forget there is still more, but I cannot give it to you until I ascend to heaven to sit at my Father's right hand, My work on earth being finished. Then My Father will send back the Holy Ghost and power with all His gifts for you to carry out My commission."
(Acts 1:5,
2:32-33,
1 Co. 12 & 14).
When you not only give your heart to the Lord but also your body and soul, then the Holy Spirit can move through your spirit
to do the sanctifying work which needs to be done in your life. This is all done because you have given Him the permission to do
this finishing work, that which brings you into perfection and maturity and to become an overcoming Christian through the
reception of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.
"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting
holiness in the fear of God."
2 Co. 7:1
"Sin was conquered through the Blood at Mt. Calvary - a matter of history.
Sin was conquered through the power of the Holy Ghost within us at Mt. Olivet - this is a matter of experience!"
One needs a greater power than that of the 'Evil One' who can influence the spirit of our flesh, to live a sanctified life, holy and
acceptable unto God
(Rm. 12:1).
Only the power of God is greater than the powers of Satan. The Lord knew that Satan would be right out in the open in these last days (Joel 2:28-29);
therefore, those who believed in God, the Father and Creator of all things would need His power to enable them to stand against the powers of evil in these days. Thus, He poured out His Spirit in the
Baptism of the Holy Ghost.
there are verses relating to this Baptism. Many have sought this experience but have not been able to receive. They think the Lord does not love and care for them as much as others. Of course that is a lie of the devil. He does not want anyone to have this power over him so he will do everything he can to prevent us from receiving. When the evidence of the Baptism does not come forth, it is usually because there is something in that individual which is blocking reception. Often it is the spirit of unforgiveness, but any of the hindrances could block one from receiving.
Any kind of involvement in the occult or any cult religion will keep one from receiving the manifestation of the baptism. These former beliefs and activities need to be renounced in the mighty Name of Jesus. A Deliverance ministry should be sought to have the freedom to receive this second experience of Grace if the seeker finds he still cannot receive the evidence of the Baptism.
" ... having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear." Acts 2:33b
To 'see and hear' is the physical or natural evidence of the Baptism in Holy Ghost which is noticeable after the Word has
dropped into the spirit of man because of the dividing power in the Word.
(Hb. 4:12).
Anyone can receive in his own home without having to have a minister lay hands on him. The Lord is not particular about the
place where seekers receive. Some have received in the bath-tub, some in their car while driving, others during water baptism,
etc. read all these verses out loud whether you are alone or not. This is what I do in ministering the Baptism. I have them read the Bible verses out loud to me. Then, I know that Word will begin to divide their soul and spirit through the power resident in God's Word, giving them an easier access to the Baptism in Holy Ghost.
Isaiah 28:9-12 - 'Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk ... " In other words, those who have come past initial salvation and through the 'first principles' of understanding the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith
(Hb. 6:1-2).
If you have not gone through this instruction in your church or in your Spirit-filled walk, ask your Pastor to start a "Foundation Series."
Read John 14:15-17, 26.
Here, the Comforter is called the Holy Ghost and also, "even the Spirit of Truth". A capital 'S' on spirit always means the Holy Spirit
when relating to the Spirit of God as opposed to the human spirit. You need the Spirit of Truth to receive and understand the
revelation knowledge of Jesus Christ
(Eph. 1:17-18,
Jn. 15:26),
and the cardinal doctrines or the First Principles found in the
beginning of Hebrews 6.
You need the Spirit of Truth to guide you into all truth, not partial truth or some of it
(Jn. 16:13-14).
To have the Spirit of Truth dwelling, working in, and instructing you in all truth, you need to have the Baptism in the Holy
Spirit.
In 1 John 2:27,
this verse is talking about the Spirit of Truth witnessing to your spirit what is truth and what is error.
This witness is discernment brought about by the spirit of Truth dwelling in you by the Spirit of God. So many ignorant
people think they do not need church, pastors, or teachers to teach them. This thinking comes from their own
misinterpretations of this scripture. If this thinking were so, then why did God "set some in the church, first apostles,
secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers ...
"(1 Co. 12:28) "
for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying (building up) of the body of Christ"
(Eph. 4:12)?
Why did the Word say, "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves
together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching"
(Hb.10:25)?
The reason is these ministries are usually found in the church assemblies. None of us are perfect yet! (Therefore, why
do some think they can find a perfect church?) So each member of the body of Christ will continue to need the Five-fold
ministries to receive instruction and thereby become mature believers. If one does not assemble with the body, the church,
he will be a prey to the devil and fall into error and deception easily. The communion and inter-relations with others in the
body are part of the growth into maturity. God's whole plan of redemption is to prepare man for eternal life. If you want to
reach this goal, then you must take heed to what the Word of God is exhorting you to do.
1 Corinthians 14:22 -
Believers believe in tongues and prophecy, unbelievers do not!
(Mt. 16:17)
Acts. 1:14 -
Mary was with the 120 in the upper room when they all received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost came upon her when she conceived Jesus
(Lk. 1:35).
The Holy Ghost came upon the disciples when Jesus breathed on
them
(Jn. 20:22).
If they received all they needed to carry out the great commission with their initial encounter with the
Holy Ghost, then why was it necessary for them to be in the upper room? This is explained at the beginning of this chapter.
Jesus knew that even His mother would need the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit to live a victorious life over the
powers of darkness.
"Spoke with other tongues" - Some theologians and expounders of the Word lump all the verses on tongues into one
interpretation because of incorrect teaching. There are three kinds of tongues (gk) glossolalia: meaning, a language with
word properties.
1. Diverse kinds of tongues - ministry gift -
(1 Co. 12:10)
In Acts 2:5-11
the disciples of Jesus spoke out in DIVERS IDNGUES, other known languages but unknown by the speaker.
2. Ministry of tongues with Interpretation of Tongues - ministry gift - (1 Co. 12:30,
and 14:13)
This tongues is spoken out in an assembly and interpreted by the Holy Spirit speaking through a vessel who is willing to be obedient in
yielding his tongue and spirit to the Holy Spirit to speak a message to the church. Both of these ministry (1. and 2.)
gifts are spoken out in public.
3. Unknown Tongues - personal prayer language -
(1 Co. 14:2, 4,
14-15)
This tongue is used by the Holy Spirit to
minister to the believer personally or in intercession for others. This tongues is used privately
(Rm. 8:27)
or 'as the Spirit gave them utterance'
(Acts 1:4),
assembling with believers.
"For if I pray in an unknown tongue my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful." 1 Co. 14:14
This verse is a good definition of personal, devotional tongues. If we understood the unknown tongue, then the devil would
also. When we pray in a known language, the devil puts his whole organization to work to keep those prayers from being
answered or coming to pass. He will do anything to keep the believer from glorifying God, the Father. When we pray in an
unknown language or tongue, we are speaking directly to God
(1 Co. 14:2).
This frustrates the devil because he cannot block
those prayers. When praying in our heavenly language we are 'building up ourselves in our most holy faith'
(Jude 20)
to face the circumstances at hand or up ahead in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit because only He knows what is up ahead.
How do you pray in the Holy Ghost? How can you pray without ceasing?
(Jude 20,
1 Thes. 5:17,
Eph. 6:18).
That means pray when working, reading, moving, etc. all the time. It is our spirit which is praying in that heavenly language not our mind. The mind is by-passed because it is in the soul realm where the devil works if it is not renewed daily in the Word; therefore, I speak to
unbelievers, your mind could not be making this all up nor are you copying someone else!
(1 Co. 14:14-15 -
notice the word also in this verse). Most 'tongue-talkers' can read the Bible or the newspaper at the same time they are using their mouth and voice to speak in the heavenly language.
When believers are praying in their tongue, they are praying according to the will of God.
See: Romans 8:26-27.
The Holy Spirit knows for what we need to pray better than we do ourselves because He is omniscient. Intercession is made in the Spirit, that is praying in tongues. Groanings and weeping is noticeable when one is travailing in the Spirit of intercession; interceding for others or themselves. (Groanings (gk) Stenagmos: not regular speech, in words which cannot be expressed with articulation.)
Those who say tongues are from the devil
(Lk. 11:9-13)
are saying the Father God and the Holy Spirit gave Mary, the mother
of Jesus
(Acts 1:14);
the Apostle Paul
(1 Co. 14:18);
all twelve disciples
(Acts 1:13-14);
and the first church of Jerusalem
(Acts 2:41),
something from the devil !!! That is blasphemy! This is also why so many Christians do not get answers to prayer and die with horrible diseases. Their lives are always fraught with distressing circumstances, strife, and pain. It is calling something that God has done, unclean.
See Mark 3:21-30.
"Because they said He hath an unclean spirit," - saying this experience is from
the devil is calling it unclean. Many people do not read the Bible for themselves. They just assume their pastor or teachers are
speaking the truth and take their words as gospel. Anyone who has sat under any of this teaching will find it difficult to receive
the Baptism in the Holy Ghost with the manifestation of the gift of tongues in evidence. They would have to renounce this
error, unbelief and the doubt which they took into their hearts from receiving this kind of teaching. They must confess these
sins and then repent in order for them to receive the gift of the Baptism. They also need to bind the spirit of error, doubt, and
unbelief and then trust in their Heavenly Father because He only gives good gifts
(Jms. 1:17-18),
doing all this in the Name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth!
Matthew 18:18
is the key to the kingdom of heaven where Satan and all his demons have their domain.
They have to obey you when you bind and loose in the Name of Jesus
(Ps. 66:1-3,
Lk. 10:19,
Mt. 16:23).
Many things begin to happen to the believer after he has been Baptised in the Holy Ghost. The whole body of Christ needs this
gift in order to fulfill the Great Commission. The following list tells us why we need this Baptism:
To create a spirit of prayer
To have a passion for souls
To have the power to witness
To resist the devil
For the gifts of the Spirit to be evidenced
To produce the fruits of the Spirit
To glorify the Lord in worship, praise, and mighty works
To bring wisdom and revelation of His Word
To edify, build-up, and comfort the believer
To lead and guide into all Truth
To be an Advocate for us
To bring healing to body and soul
To bring deliverance and release from bondages
For the perfecting and maturing of the believer
To intercede in prayer for all saints
To bind the powers of darkness
To help in time of duress
To build up a 'shield of Faith'
To have a continuing flow of the Holy Spirit through us
To build up our most holy faith
To give the impetus of power to the Word
To move in delegated authority, in the Name of Jesus
To minister under the anointing
To back up our confession with power
To walk above the circumstances of life
To walk and live in the Spirit
To preach in the power and anointing of the Holy Ghost
(Remember to renounce all occult involvement in the Name of Jesus Christ!)
Now read all the scriptures I have listed out loud to yourself or with others and begin to expect to receive the Baptism if you have not received before. The Holy Spirit will use your equipment, that is, your lips, tongue, voice box, and hands,
(1 Tim. 2:8).
Your hands are your spiritual antennas. Immediately after the following prayer be prepared to open your mouth, take a deep breath, and slowly breathe out with a noise from your voice box. Move your tongue around by faith and speak words which are not familiar to you. Do not speak in English after the following prayer, but do what I have suggested thus far after speaking this petition out loud:
"Dear Father God, Creator of all things, have mercy on me and forgive me of all my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son
and you have raised Him from the dead according to
Romans 10:9.
I ask that the shed blood of Jesus Christ, will wash me from
all my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness
(1 Jn. 1:7 & 9).
I believe it is done now because I have asked. Thank you
Jesus. Dear Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart now and sit on the throne of my life; I turn it over to you completely. You have
told us in your Word to ask and it shall be given unto us, so I ask you, Father God to baptize me in the Holy Spirit with the gift of
speaking in tongues in evidence. I give you all the praise and the glory, thanking you Lord for this wonderful gift. Hallelujah!"
Now, commence to speak forth as I have instructed you beforehand. "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise,"
(Ps. 100:4).
Continue praying in this language and keep practicing it more and more. The more you pray in tongues, the more of God's power will be evident in your life as you walk with Him. From now on your eyes will be open in the spirit to see things in the Word of God which you have never mentioned before. Joy, peace and love will spring up from your inner-most being. You will feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. People will make remarks because they will
see the change, but it will be a good change. Do not 'mow them down' telling them about the experience you have just come
through until you have more understanding in how to approach them. My family and friends said I came on 'like Gangbuster.'
It really turned them off! They had not come into this experience yet so could not understand what I was talking about. You
need to let the Holy Spirit make the way for them, to draw them into having a hunger and thirst for righteousness; so just start
praying for each member of your family and friends, using this scripture,
Matthew 5:6
and putting their name in it It is important for you to read the book of Acts three times all the way through after you receive the manifestation of the gift of tongues. Each time you read it you will understand more and more of the history, ministry, works, and ways of the Holy Spirit because He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever! Next, read the book of John, then the Epistles - Paul's letters to the churches before you begin to read the books of the Old Testament. A lot of baby Christians do not understand God's ways in the Old Testament so they get turned off. They think they should start at the beginning of the Bible and then they get lost in the 'begot's.'
It is better for the young believers to get into Old Testament studies with an instructor. These are just my suggestions but the
Holy Spirit is the One who is now in charge of your life. He will lead you and guide you through His paths of righteousness if you
will heed to His leadings. He does not move out of the confines of the Word, so do not believe every voice you hear in your mind
until you check things out with the Word. You will always hear at least one word which you can look up in any concordance to
look for a scripture that would line up with what the voice said. Otherwise, confer with your pastor or teacher to see if this word
is scriptural. My teaching on Voices, pp. 131-133 will help you ascertain and discern what voice was speaking to you. So many
believers think every voice they hear is the Lord's and go out and do things contrary to common sense or out of line with the
Word of God. It is not God's will for you to give everything away when you are a new believer! Only the devil wants you in poverty
so you can complain and gripe about the position you are in and get out of God's blessing ground. Do not make any kind of a move
until the Lord confirms His wishes out of the mouth of two or three. Where giving is concerned, you are to pay your bills first
before giving anything other than your tithe,
(Rm. 13:8).
Do not feel condemned if you are not in a position to give to everyone that prevails upon you. The Lord has those who have money to give to take care of those. This does not mean you will lose any of your blessings. When you have an abundance, then consider giving offerings. So many baby believers are drained of their
finances because they think they are to give to everyone that asks. The Lord calls this, "making merchandise of His lambs." The
Lord does not put you under pressure. He prepares you ahead of time. Only the devil will put you under pressure, into a time
schedule. Remember that.
Personally, I read some of the Old and the New Testament each day, along with one Proverb, (31 chapters and 31 days in the
month). Even though you may not understand all that you are reading, keep on 'keeping on' because you are feeding your spirit-
man. Sooner or later, it will all fit together like a set of gears; the same with Bible studies and the sermons you hear at church.
It will all begin to jell after you have walked in the Spirit for a while. In the meantime, what the Holy Spirit wants you to take
in, you will receive and feel satisfied. What He does not want you to take in, you will usually not remember because you have
not reached that level of maturity and understanding yet. Do not be quick to judge or criticize if you do not understand or agree
with what you are hearing -just put it on the shelf. If it is meant for you, the Lord will bring it back to you at another time when
you are more mature and able to handle it.
From now on it is important to be faithful to praying in the Spirit; to making time for Bible reading and study; to attend church
services as often as you can; to learn about getting into a fasting schedule, and to yield to the voice of the Holy Spirit. He will
teach you how to know His voice and how to walk in His ways.
God's Chosen Fast by Arthur Wallis will help you understand the different types of fasting. Look for a good Bible to purchase
Thompson's Chain Reference, the Open Bible, or Dake's Annotated Reference Bible to help you with your studies. If you just have
a plain King James Bible, then find a good Concordance and save the expense of buying one of the more expensive Bibles with
a Concordance and commentary. Later you may want your own Greek commentaries, such as I have mentioned much in this
Manual. They will clearly illuminate the Bible scriptures.
The next thing you must consider is water baptism, "to fulfill all righteousness"
(Mt. 3:13-17).
It is much easier to overcome the 'old man' and his old habits, etc. and 'fight the good fight of faith,' after you have gone under the waters of baptism.
in Mark 1:9-10 and
Matthew 3
that Jesus came up out of the water; He was not sprinkled! Then in Acts 8:36-39,
Phillip and the eunuch went down into the water and came up out of it. This is a symbol of Jesus dying on the cross and being raised again from the dead - death to the old man's graveclothes, engrained habits of the flesh which are hanging around you. Then when
you come out of the waters, you are being raised up in deliverance into newness life, leaving these graveclothes in the waters,
just as Lazarus was freed from the graveclothes which bound him after Jesus raised him from the dead
(Jn. 11:44).
See Romans 6:3-4 and
Colossians 2:12.
Ephesians 4:5
has to do with being baptized into the body of Christ, into salvation. One only needs to be born-again (saved) once
(Gal. 3:27).
"The doctrine of Baptisms" (plural) is one of the First Principles (Hb. 6:2)
of the Christian walk. These are established theological truths or tenets and called the Cardinal Doctrines of our faith and belief.
One thing I tell my students when I am teaching: in the natural, the deeper the foundation of a structure, the higher the
structure can be built! Getting established on a good foundation, the first principles, will take you up higher into wisdom, stature, authority, and maturity in Christ Jesus. You will not be 'wishy-washy', indecisive, and confused easily. You will
understand the exercising of your senses in good and evil; this brings maturity in discernment. You have to know the difference
to move out of the 'milk stage',
(1 Co. 3:1-3,
1 Pt. 2:2).
Thus saith the Lord, June- When you are where I want you to be,
The power of the Almighty shall fall down upon thee.
Then all those things I told you about
Will fall down upon everyone who believes in that house.
Those who are touched by this sovereign move
Will do an about face and walk in the paths I groove.
Then you will tell them how I talked
To the evil one on the top of those rocks,
In the Mt. of Temptation, beyond the Jordan River.
It was under the water of baptism, I went as a giver-
As John suffered Me, for I was a Believer!
Those who do not follow Me in this way-
Will not ever know the victorious life for a day.
You have seen an example of how the enemy
Moves and uses those who do not fulfill righteousness, in the work of the ministry.
It is hard to change the mind-
Of those who are doctrinally entwined
In the religions of man.
Yes, every denomination was a figment of a man's stand,
Upon certain scriptures they could not comprehend-
In the natural mind, because the enemy had quenched the fires of Pentecost.
Their involvement in the spirit was no longer the Holy Ghost.
But, the enemy can only use those
Who are not fully sanctified in the areas they host.
This is why I had to pour out more rain.
So, those who believed with their whole hearts, would not disdain,
That which is so powerful and mighty-
The power of God indwelt in man entirely.
Now that the former and latter rain have been poured down upon the earth,
The time is short - there are many who need to receive the new birth.
Those whom I am sending out these days
Are those who have submitted their all in every way.
When others will do the same,
There is another sanctified vessel to be used in this latter rain.
Rain touches every person in its path.
Just a drop of this rain gives one a spiritual bath.
This is why no one can boast.
I am the author of it all, - The Holy Ghost!
