The Power available to those who believe
We knew what Peter was talking about after studying through this utterance when he said, "Thou hast the words of eternal life," to the Lord Jesus
But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
John 6:68
The Word of God has so much power in it; more than you could understand in the natural. One just has to get involved in it and take notice of the changes going on, not only in himself but in all those whom he knows that have been into the Word and have operated in it. The Holy Spirit gives one a hunger and a thirst after righteousness after the salvation experience but even more so after the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.
As you begin to read the Word, meditate in it, and confess it while praying, you initiate a renewing, regenerating, and sanctifying process which goes on throughout your earthly life; then it abounds to your account in heaven
Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.
Philippians 4:17
You are really doing
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12
Lay hold (gk) epilambano: to take unto
(gk) krateo: to be strong, mighty
Profession (gk) homologia: man speaking or preaching the Word
In other words, we are practically appropriating all the benefits, privileges, and responsibilities involved in the possession of eternal life, here! Those many witnesses are earthly and heavenly! The heavenly witnesses are those ministering spirits who wait upon you to dispatch them and also do your bidding through hearing you confess the promises of God.
being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Philippians 1:6
"There are only two ways to go once the Lord has begun His work in you: obedience or affliction."
You make the choice. It is a lot quicker and easier to move down the road of obedience, yielding to the work of the Holy Spirit in you than to go through the affliction associated with chastening. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith from the day we submitted our all to Him. He knew from the beginning what His Word and Spirit would do in us; that is, in every part of our daily life. He knew we would become mature and perfected as a working member of His body, the church, prepared for the soon coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:14-16
For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; Romans 12:4-7
He knew we would also bring many souls into the Kingdom of God through the witness of our lifestyle as well as to be the vessel He burdened to pray our whole family into His Kingdom. Can we see why He gives this hunger and thirst after righteousness after our initial introduction into the Kingdom of God? The end result of your yielding ourself to Him in obedience to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit would be an abundant entrance into eternal life,
for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:11
This is the final result of growing in stature spiritually through applying the Word of God to our needs and those of your family and friends. when we have thoroughly digested its content. We will be able to see it all working in many wondrous ways through partaking of God's precious Word on a daily basis, allowing it to perfect that which concerns us.
The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Psalms 138:8
In recent years there has been a lot of Faith teaching, some a little off balance and some 'right on', but the pendulum swings like this with man's partial understanding of the Word until the Spirit of God balances the true revelation through His anointed servants.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
The secret of pleasing God is to possess Him and let Him possess us. One cannot have the faith which pleases God if we are constantly speaking faithlessly; therefore, faith has to be appropriated and exercised in order to walk on with God. How does one do this?
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17
It is as simple as that. It stands to reason, one should be hearing the Word to appropriate faith. By continually confessing the Word, the promises of God relating to us and the place we are in at the moment we are speaking this Word, we are building up our faith to the level where God moves in manifestation in the believer's life. This is pleasing God, speaking faith filled words. Job said,
How forceful are right words! Job 6:25
God's omnipotence is projected into each situation, circumstance, and need when the promises relating to these things are confessed just as it is literally written. Jesus used the literal translation of the
Holy Scriptures which were available to Him
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
He shall give His angels charge over you,’
and,
‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”
8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. Matthew 4:3-11
1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written:
To keep you,’
11 and,
‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”
13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
Jesus Begins His Galilean Ministry
14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. Luke 4:1-14
were sticking to the KJV translations of the Bible as truth because we believe these other versions of the Bible have been 'watered down', denuding the Word of God of much of its power. Who is it that wants to demote the power of God? The one who can influence the mind of those who do not accept
the full gospel. These other versions of the Bible are alright for those who desire to expose the scriptures more clearly for their
understanding but they are not the verses which should be heard by the powers of darkness to eliminate their harassment. We need to have all the power which Jesus left us at our disposal to overcome the devil, not 'watered down' power. For those who cannot understand the King James Bible as well, if you pray before you read, beseeching the Lord for comprehension, the Holy Spirit will give you the spiritual understanding you need for that time in your spiritual walk. The power we have in the Word of God is far greater than all the powers of darkness. Jesus demonstrated this to us in the fact that He used it Himself throughout His ministry on this earth. We need all the divine power we can handle in this earthly life to overcome Satan and all his hosts of Hell.
"Thus saith the Lord ....
Today is the acceptable time,
For your work of written line,
To be brought to the press of this servant's bower
In order that it will reach full bloom at this hour.
It is a necessary ingredient to many a o ne,
Who have come into a walk with the Holy Son.
